Dr. David Welmerink is the founder of Welmerink Orthodontics, starting his practice in November, 1982. Over 39 years of practice, until his retirement in May of 2021, Dr. Welmerink (affectionately known as “Doc”) served the community of Sparks and Fallon. He participated in the lives of thousands of patients. He is a role model and inspiration to the many lives he touched over his years of practice.

Doc graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and practiced general dentistry for five years with the United States Public Health Service, Indian Health Division. He returned to the University of Michigan to continue his education with specialty training in orthodontics. After completing his residency and obtaining his master’s degree in orthodontics, he rejoined the Public Health Service to practice in the seven Indian Health Clinics in the Arizona/Nevada area. Following completion of his Public Health Service, Dr. David Welmerink opened his private practice in Sparks.

He has served as secretary/treasurer, vice president, and president of the Northern Nevada Dental Society, and is a member in good standing of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, and the Nevada Society of Orthodontists.

The Welmerink family includes his wife of more than 40 years, Cris, their four children and their spouses, and nine adorable grandchildren.

I have proudly been with Welmerink and Utter Orthodontics since 2011. During my orthodontic career, I have worked in the lab and assisted the doctors. You may have seen me as the Treatment Coordinator or Financial Coordinator over my time here. I truly enjoy meeting all of our patients. Now, as the Administrative Lead I am more behind the scenes of the office making sure everything runs smoothly not only for all of our wonderful patients but for our amazing doctors and team as well.

My husband and I have 3 sons, Blaine, Logan and Mitchell. They are sixth generation Nevadans. They are our pride and joy and they are growing up too fast. As a family we love camping, hunting, skiing and spending time in our home away from home in Kingston, Nevada. We also have 2 labrador retrievers Jax and Jiggs who are crazy and keep us very entertained.

I have been with the Welmerink and Utter Orthodontics team since 2012 and am very excited to be here! I truly enjoy working in the dental field, and especially love working with orthodontic patients. It is such a fulfilling job when you see the happiness a great smile brings our patients.

I moved here in 2003 from Northern California and I love all that Northern Nevada has to offer! My husband and I enjoy the outdoors and spend as much time as possible hiking, hunting, and exploring. I also enjoy spending time with my four sons, daughter-in-law, and beautiful grandchildren, Hayden and Miles.

I started working at Welmerink and Utter Orthodontics during the summer of 2018. I truly enjoy working with such an amazing team. Prior to working at Welmerink and Utter Orthodontics, I was at a pediatric dental office for seven years. It brings me great joy seeing each of our patients’ smiles grow throughout treatment.

I am the proud mother of three beautiful ladies. I truly enjoy being a mom and wouldn’t change that for anything. I am a native Nevadan and most likely you will find me in the Nevada backroads having a great time hunting, fishing, and camping, all while working with my dogs. I live a very active life and enjoy each and every adventure.

I have worked in the orthodontic field since 2006, after graduating from the TMCC Dental Assisting Program. My favorite things about my job are getting to know our patients and bringing them happiness by transforming their smile. I am a previous patient of Dr. Welmerink’s: I had braces completed when I was in the fifth grade. I am so happy to work for such amazing doctors and give our patients the same great experience here that I had!

Some of my favorite things to do are ski, spend time at Lake Tahoe, walk my Goldendoodle Rosie, and spend time with my family and friends. I have two children: a daughter Adalyn and a son Cooper. My husband Matt and I were born and raised in Sparks.

I have been in the dental field since 2011, after graduating from ECPI Medical Careers institute in Virgina. I started at Welmerink and Utter Orthodontics in 2016 and have been loving every second since. During my time here I spent seven years as an assistant in the clinical office before becoming a Treatment Coordinator in 2023. I truly love getting to know all of our patients and creating lasting friendships while getting you started on your orthodontic journey.

I was born and raised in the Reno, Sparks area. Outside of the office My husband Nathan and I are busy raising our three girls Brylee, Elyse, and Everly, they definitely keep us busy with all sorts of activities. We love the outdoors and spending time by any of our surrounding lakes. We also enjoy going to the movies or watching movies at home.

I have been working at Welmerink and Utter Orthodontics since 2017, first as a Scheduling Coordinator and now as the Financial Coordinator. It is so rewarding getting to know our patients and watching them transform throughout treatment.

I grew up in the Bay Area in California and moved to Reno to attend the University of Nevada in 2011. I love this area and am always looking for opportunities to spend more time outdoors, especially backpacking and kayaking.

I joined the Welmerink and Utter Orthodontics team in the summer of 2023. I have been in the dental field for over 10 years. I worked in general dentistry for 9 years until I transitioned into orthodontics. It is a very rewarding job to be a part of our patients smile journey.

Outside of the office I love spending my free time with my daughter Audrey and my husband. We love kayaking at Lake Tahoe and taking spontaneous get aways. Our goal is to make as many core memories as possible.

Hello, my name is Rylee, I just recently joined the Welmerink and Utter Orthodontics team! I was a previous patient here and I love my job and the team! I am so happy I get to play a role in helping you achieve your dream smile! 

I am born and raised here in Sparks, and I am currently attending the University of Nevada, Reno. When I am not working or going to class you can usually find me using coloring books, spending time with my family, watching a movie, or studying.

Hello, I’m Jessica! I joined the Welmerink and Utter Orthodontic team in the Fall of 2016. I graduated from the dental assisting program at Milan and did my externship at Welmerink and Utter Orthodontics before being hired to join the team. It has been a great experience working with a fun, friendly and caring team. Thank you Dr. Welmerink for believing in me and my capabilities from the beginning. I loved how braces changed my smile, and it is an honor being able to help transform beautiful smiles and help make patients comfortable and confident about their smiles.

I was born and raised in Reno. I have two wonderful children. A son Giovanni and a daughter Amelia. In our spare time we enjoy going to the park, the lake and camping. I also love kickboxing and watching Netflix. I am very family oriented, having come from a family of six children.

I cannot wait to meet each of you, if I have not already!

Hello, I’m Angie! I graduated from the dental assisting program at TMCC in the summer of 2022 and shortly after I started working at Welmerink and Utter Orthodontics. I feel so lucky and grateful being able to work for Dr. Adam and Dr. Megan, as they are so caring and supportive. I had braces a few years ago and seeing my teeth after treatment boosted my confidence. Now it is so rewarding knowing that I get to be a part of our patients’ journeys to loving their smiles.

I was born in Southern California but moved to Nevada when I was 10 years old. I have 2 siblings and I am the oldest. When I’m not working, I enjoy going to the movies, listening to true crime podcasts, going to concerts and traveling.

I joined the Welmerink and Utter Orthodontics team in the fall of 2020 and have been in the orthodontic field going on 10+ years. Prior to that, I also worked in general dentistry for 8 years.

The best part about working at Welmerink and Utter Orthodontics is the amazing teamwork. I get to work with such an awesome, fun, and caring staff. It definitely makes it worth coming into work knowing that I am in good hands, and even better, knowing that our patients are in good hands too. With the quality care and experience we give to our patients; I am so glad I get to take part in helping our patients achieve that perfect smile.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy doing arts and crafts, watching my kids play sports, and most of all spending time with my family, whether that be taking trips, playing games, watching movies, relaxing, listening to music, or having a good old family BBQ.

Hello! I’m Alicia. I joined the Welmerink and Utter Orthodontic Team in the summer of 2021 and I am loving it. I have been in the dental field since graduating the Dental Assisting Program at TMCC in 2014. I found my passion for dental and especially in orthodontics while being a patient of Dr. Welmerink’s when I was a kid. It is such a great feeling seeing our patients excited for treatment and so happy with their beautiful smile. I look forward to getting to know all of our amazing patients.

I was born in Tallahassee, Florida and moved to Sparks when I was 4 years old. Outside of the office I love being with my family. My husband and I have been married since 2019 and have two sweet boys that we spend most of our time chasing after. During the summer you can find us camping and hanging around a fire pit cooking something good!

Hi, I’m Dani! I recently joined the Welmerink and Utter Orthodontics team, and I couldn’t be more excited. I graduated from the TMCC Dental Assisting program in 2016, and orthodontics has always been my favorite part of dentistry.

I’m so grateful to be part of this amazing team. I truly enjoy being here, helping our patients on their journey, and witnessing their smiles transform as their confidence grows!

When I’m not at work, I love spending time with family and friends. I enjoy cooking, baking, and have a passion for cars and shoes. I also have three cats who keep me very busy!

I am born and raised in Reno, Nevada. I graduated from Reed High school and after that I went to TMCC and received my associates degree.

I have a daughter named Catalina Rose and she is the most beautiful blessing that has ever happened to me. I love spending time with my family and friends and traveling to new places!

I worked at a bank for almost five years. I loved and appreciated the experience but changing career paths was the best decision I have ever made. I love orthodontics! I enjoyed what I did as a financial assistant but I really enjoy being an ortho assistant as well. Cross training has made me realize that I’m capable of doing whatever I set my mind to. 

I’m really happy where I’m at and thankful for the second family that I have gained at Welmerink and Utter Orthodontics. I love my job and everyone I work with and being a part of such a wonderful team. My home away from home.

I was born in California but I grew up here in Reno. I love spring, Halloween is my favorite holiday and I love true crime and traveling. I’ve been to Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia and I hope to see more one day.

I’ve been the records tech here at Welmerink and Utter Orthodontics since November 2023. I’m the one taking all your photos and X-rays! I genuinely love getting to know our patients – it’s literally so much fun. I look forward to getting to know more of you and your beautiful smiles!
